Cottage Time!

Wee M had her first cottage experience this past weekend!  She was a happy lady as there were lots of people around to snuggle with her.  Five grown-ups to one Wee M is about the right ratio!  Wee M was sitting for short periods of time but is still very tippy.  She really only wants to make the effort of sitting if the prize is good enough!!  Wee M still likes to be swaddled when she goes to sleep ... which is starting to become more of a problem as the temperature rises.

Happy 5 Months ... Now Let's Eat!

At Wee M's last Dr's appointment, they suggested that we could start solids a bit earlier with her.  Hoping that it might cure some of our sleeping problems we gave Wee M her first cereal today as a birthday treat!  She spit a lot of it out, but we think she did eat some.  We'll try again tomorrow :)

My New Buggy Seat

Wee M has been demanding that she have a better view of her surroundings when we go on walks. So, her wish is our command -- new buggy seat!  Now was just have to make sure Chippy doesn't step on her fingers!  Our first trip around the town was a success!  There was minimal crying and the lady was still fast asleep by the time we got home!

Raincoat

Wee M kicks so fiercely in the bath now that anyone in the bathroom needs a raincoat!  She, of course, finds this hilarious!

The Leaning Sit

Miss M has reached a 'milestone' in that she has mastered the leaning sit for about 5-10 seconds!  If her legs are supported a bit she can sit leaning towards her toes.  It doesn't last long and she doesn't like it - but it's a start!  Every once in a while she'll bob into a full sit before falling backwards!

Wee M Sitting - Link

Today she followed Chippy to the 'Copper Sunday' military parade, then to the park for a picnic and then to Gananoque for an ice cream.  By the time it was all over she wasn't too happy and screamed all the way home. :)

A Week with Miss M

The big story the past few weeks with Miss M is her sleeping habits ... or lack of.  She started off sleeping pretty well after she was born, but in the past two months she has seriously regressed.  Each time we think we have a new way of getting her to sleep, she decides she doesn't like it any longer!  We have a number of tricks up our sleeve including swaddle, no swaddle, bink, no bink, on her back, on her stomach, in her car seat, in her crib, with music, without music.  The latest is to swaddle her and use the bink and music from the mobile when needed.  It used to be on her stomach with no swaddle worked.  The bink only works on occasion as she is more of a finger sucker.  During the day we can sometimes get her down in her crib, but the most she'll sleep is about 30 - 45 minutes.  The car seat works best during the day and she'll sleep for over an hour.  Pa's method of rocking her over the bump in the floor between the kitchen and the living room in her stroller works at 5 in the morning when she seems wide awake!  Otherwise, her nighttime waking is usually at 11pm (or 10pm tonight!) and then every 2-3 hours thereafter.  We have been trying to get into a routine with her by having 2-3 naps and the same bedtime, but it's awfully hard when she refuses to sleep!

Besides that, she's been pretty happy during the day!  She giggles when you kiss her cheeks and neck and blow raspberries on her.  She will also smile back at you when you smile ... if she's in a good mood.  Good moods normally last as long as you are holding her.  She still doesn't like to be put down in anything for longer than about 10 minutes ... if you're lucky.  When she's happy she also likes to squeal and talk to anyone who will listen.  She has a multi coloured ball that is easy to hold that will fascinate her for a short time.

Mummy and M have been going for a lot of walks when the weather is nice.  Our favourite walk is being put in the Bjorn and walking over to pick up Daddy and Chippy from school (or the Queen's House according to Chippy).
