And She's Walking!!

Last night Wee M took her first real steps!  The trick is to keep her hands full so she can't hold on.  She goes about 5-6 steps and then falls forward in our lap!  Yeah for Wee M!

And, while we're on the topic of milestones, she recently went from 6 teeth to 9!  She has two top molars and one bottom molar which have come through.  The top ones are in a bit more than the bottom one.

Christmas 2

Wee M enjoyed the festivities at Auntie Lorri's house.  While Chippy made out alright on his own, he was quite interested in Wee M's gifts and was more than willing to show her how they all worked!

Octopus Game

Wee M loves this new Christmas toy ... she picks up a ball, puts it in the top of the toy, lifts the shoes at the bottom to find where it went, then puts it back in the top.  Each time she finishes that cycle she gives herself a big clap!!

Christmas 1

Wee M's Christmas was full of dollies and clothes ... and chocolate???

Swimming

The wee lady had her first dip in a pool with Grammy in Orlando and had a whale of a time!

1 Yr Doctor Appt

Wee M had her 1 year appointment on Dec 20th.  Her stats were:

Weight:  8.29 kg
Height:   73 cm
Head:     47.5 cm

So, it seems like she is a little lower in the percentages for height and weight, but her head circumference is doing just fine!  Not surprising given how little she's been eating recently.  Now that she's feeling better, hopefully she'll start to explore more foods and eat a bit more.  Currently the foods she'll eat include:

Tofu
Berries & grapes (blackberries and raspberries preferably)
Crackers
Pancakes
Spagetti and meatballs (usually)
Puffs
Juice boxes
Milk
Peanut butter on breadsticks
Yogourt

Everything else usually gets turned away within a few inches of her mouth.  Except for cookies ... she hasn't turned one down yet!

Disney

Well ... not much to this blog post.  Wee M was at Disney, but didn't get to do much.  While she stayed off of the rides, there was a lot for her to see and watch which kept her entertained.  Overall, she seemed to enjoy just being pushed around and seeing things.  She slept for most of the visits ... our very own Sleeping Beauty!

First Airplane Ride

Wee M was fidgety through the first plane ride, but had fun playing peek-a-boo with the other passengers!  The ride home was a bit easier on Mummy and Grammy ... she slept most of the way!

Happy 1st Birthday!

With traveling on Wee M's birthday, she didn't get too much of a birthday celebration!  Presents were opened on Chippy's birthday and we did have a cake, but it was the day after her birthday.  Chippy suggested Wee M would like a chocolate cake ... so that's what we had!

She's not walking yet, but she's getting herself around pretty easily.  She holds on and moves at a pretty quick pace between furniture pieces.  When she's as far as she can go she'll gently fall back and start crawling instead.

We thought her hair had started to stay down after her first birthday, but it seems to be back to it's light socket ways so it must be that we hadn't washed her dinner out of it.

Her and Chippy are starting to interact quite a bit.  She likes to watch him and laugh at him when he's being silly.  When you ask her where dada is, she looks at him and then hides her eyes.  She's signing more when she's still hungry / thirsty.  Standing and exploring still seems to be her favourite activity.  When dressing, she helps us put her shirt on by getting her arms through the holes.

Bowers Christmas 2012

Wee M enjoyed her first official Bowers Christmas yesterday!  She wasn't too shy in allowing lots of snuggles.  We had her in Chippy's old carseat for the first time - big mistake!  It's at such an angle that it's hard for her to sleep like she could in the infant seat.

Sibling Picture

Thinking it would be nice to have a decent picture of the two cost centres together, Mummy attempted twice ... with not much luck!

Balance

The wee girl has been standing on her own quite a bit in the last few days.  She likes to climb up so she's holding on to something, then slowly let go and balance.  Yesterday she bent down and picked up a bag of toys all while standing!  Last picture is her balancing without holding on.

Chipette-cakes

Don't try bottles or sippy-cups with this girl!  Juice boxes and pancakes only!

Bubba/Gampy Visit

With daddy being away a lot recently, Bubba/Gampy came to help out with the Wee Lady!

Wee M continues to be an independent explorer ... she has recently discovered that there is a lock on the cupboard in the bathroom and she was yanking on it yesterday trying to get it open!  She is still quite happy (most of the time) and tonight she ate about as much as we've seen her eat of 'real' food.  She had a good handful of pasta and then had some yogourt, strawberries and a cookie.  She is really happy at daycare as was evidenced today by the green paint in her hair.  Every day we get the same report about how happy she was.  We went to the Santa Claus parade on Saturday night and she was attentive for all but about 5 minutes at the end which is pretty good considering it was 1 1/2 hrs in length.  Wee M is still sleeping pretty well.  She gets up 2-3 times a night still, but what has changed recently is being able to put her down for the night while she is still somewhat awake.  We can plop her down, put the pink blanket over her (which she loves) and once she gets her little hand around the blanket, she settles right down.  Usually the binky and elephant music aren't needed until later in the night.  We continue to work on her walking, but she's such a careful lady that she doesn't want to let go!

Water Girl

Chippette is proving to be quite the little water girl.  It started out a few months ago when she would lay down on her belly during her bath and play around in the water.  Now, it has progressed into falling backwards onto her back, using the side of the tub to break her fall, and splashing and splashing and splashing .... .  Sometimes the water gets into her eyes and mouth but she doesn't seem to care at all! She just keeps smiling and splashing and splashing .......

I can feed myself ...

... no problem!

Drinking

I gave Wee M her cup so she could drink by herself (for what I thought was the first time) and she knew exactly what to do ... wasn't 100% accurate, but she had the right idea! She must have practiced at the little house!
